MIST Pro is a one-week, in-person experience hosted inside Metropolis Studios.
Course Overview
For those fascinated by what happens behind the record, this programme offers an extraordinary opportunity to step inside one of the world’s most respected recording studios and experience the craft of record-making from the inside.
Across an intensive week of immersive learning, participants will follow the complete journey of a record, from recording and production through to mixing, mastering and Dolby Atmos delivery, working alongside the engineers, producers and specialists responsible for shaping some of the most celebrated music of recent decades.
More than a course, this is a rare invitation into a professional creative environment where world-class music is made every day. Through hands-on workshops, live sessions, critical listening exercises and candid conversations with industry practitioners, participants gain access to the knowledge, workflows and decision-making processes that define music production at the highest level.
At the centre of the experience is the opportunity to work on an award-winning record connected to Metropolis Studio’s legacy, contributing to a project with genuine creative and historical significance. Along the way, participants will collaborate with working musicians and professionals whose credits include Laura Marling, Florence + The Machine, Bastille, Nerina Pallot, Jake Bugg, Ellie Goulding, Dermot Kennedy and Paolo Nutini, offering an invaluable perspective on how records are developed, refined and brought to life in today’s industry.
Beyond the technical skills, the programme provides something increasingly difficult to access: proximity to industry. It offers the chance to observe, ask questions, build relationships and experience first-hand the standards, culture and collaborative spirit that underpin world-class music production.
Whether your ambition is to pursue a career in music production, deepen your appreciation of recorded sound, or simply satisfy a lifelong curiosity about how great records are made, this experience is designed to expand your understanding and provide rare access to the people, processes and environments behind world-class music production. By the end of the week, you’ll leave with far more than an understanding of recording, mixing and mastering; you’ll gain a new perspective on the creative and technical decisions that shape the music we love, a trained ear for critical listening, and a deeper connection to the craft, artistry and innovation behind exceptional recordings.
